Remebering my dear Brother Malcom X

Malcolm X has always been my inspiring figure ever since I came across him decades  ago. Thinking about Malcolm and imagining what America would have looked like if he had lived until now, makes me very emotional. I wonder why black leaders should die so young.

He embodies courage, wisdom and dignity. 50 years have gone since his assassination but his impact has continued to expand across the world. He was not like any other  leader. He was honest and sincere in his approach to  American politics. He walked the talk.He never sold himself to the establishment or adjusted to the system as some brothers did because of economic or political gains.

He cared and gave a voice for the voiceless poor and the wretched of the earth. He talked about the American hypocrisy and the fate of blacks that has  become a nightmare for millions. His eloquence and dignified manner is  unique to humanity.

He advocated  freedom for everybody: by any means necessary, through the ballot or bullet.  There is nothing called bloodless revolution.  His legacy is so poweful and omnipresent.

America has not changed that much in the past 50 years even if we have a black president in the white man´s house where no white woman has been a resident as  a president as yet. That might be an achievement in itself but cosmetic changes are not what we deserve because Obama is serving the American oligarchy.

Cornell West is one of the greatest intellectuals of this century and he describes Malcolm X as the great figure of revolutionary parrhesia in the black prophetic tradition. Malcolm X is unique among the figures in the prophetic tradition to the degree to which he was willing to engage in unintimidated speech in public about white supremacy.

Some chickens may have come home to roost as Brother Malcolm would have said about violence in Babylon now but advocating non-violence in a violent world is not the way forward as long as those who have "the gun" continue to harass humanity through it.  Check out the links bellow from the black agenda report and Time respectively. Rest in peace, my dear brother, Malcom!
